He has worked with some of the most produced playwrights in the country including:

SHAKESPEARE / RENAISSANCE

Tamil has performed in over 30 Shakespeare and Renaissance plays across 8 different states.

Some of his favorite Shakespeare projects include:

In 2024, he performed as Tamburlaine in Christopher Marlowe's TAMBURLAINE THE GREAT PART 1. The run was so successful that the theatre scrapped the rest of their season to bring him back as Tamburlaine in the rarely produced sequel TAMBURLAINE THE GREAT PART 2 and later in a rep of both parts.

CLASSICAL

Nirad Das in Tom Stoppard's INDIAN INK

(Austin Shakespeare)

Tamil has found his home in the American Classics, winning regional acting awards for his portrayals of leading but flawed men in the works of Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams.

In addition, he has found a penchant for plays from the British Isles, regularly being cast by British and Celtic theatre companies and donning regional British, Scottish, and Irish accents in plays ranging from Tom Stoppard to Brian Friel and David Grieg.

CONTEMPORARY

Tamil credits his successes with modern plays coming from his work with Shakespeare, noting that plays he has worked on -- from Steve Yockey to Stephen Karam to David Mamet -- use some of the Bard's tools to drive their stories and their characters: particularly in the pacing.

Modern plays also allow him to stretch his comedic chops, as he did when he performed in the hilarious farce SWINDLERS, produced by Tony Award winning producers Jim Kierstead and Willie Fernandez of Broadway United.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

Tamil was featured in the Introduction to this book, where the author spent 2-3 pages positively discussing his acting choices and character portrayal!

Fun fact: this play had not been performed since its debut over 400 years ago. And the last person to play my part of Captain George Brown? ... None other than William Shakespeare himself!
